Physics

Arguably the most famous physics formula, E=mc², states that tiny amounts of mass can be converted into vast amounts of energy. This was confirmed by discoveries in the physics of the microworld made in the 1930s.

Technology

Controlled splitting of atomic nuclei (nuclear fission) takes place in technical devices called nuclear reactors, which are primarily used for electricity production, but not exclusively.

Society

The use of nuclear energy has evoked many emotions for years. Nuclear power is one of the most environmentally friendly energy sources. Nevertheless, we are still discussing the or pros and cons of this form of energy.

Nukleo.pl is an educational portal dedicated to nuclear energy and radioactivity. It consists of three modules: Physics, Technology and Society, containing a total of 167 chapters. Nukleo.pl is available only in Polish.

The portal was created on the basis of texts, articles and publications prepared by the Foundation’s team for the needs of various projects carried out since the beginning of the organisation’s activity (including Atomic Bus – Mobile Laboratory), “Forum Atomowe” magazine or energiajadrowa.pl portal). Some of the texts have been prepared especially for Nukleo.pl by the portal’s editor. The aim of the Nukleo.pl portal is to make the work of volunteers available in an accessible and easily accessible way and to popularise the presented topics.

The world of nuclear physics and technology is introduced by two cartoon characters, Albert and Maria, modelled on some of the greatest scientists of the 20th century – Albert Einstein and Maria Skłodowska-Curie, who played a significant role in the development of science related to radioactivity and nuclear energy.

The chapters of the thematic modules are complemented by a Lexicon of selected terms used in the portal, as well as a Quiz where everyone can test their knowledge of nuclear energy. The quiz is divided thematically according to the portal modules and has a database of 232 questions. The structure of the portal is of course not final, it will be supplemented with new content and the already published texts will be updated.

The FORUM ATOMOWE Foundation strives to ensure that the content published on the portal is reliable, credible and helpful. The structure of the portal is not definitive, it will be systematically supplemented with new content and the chapters already published will be updated.
