Arguably the most famous physics formula, E=mc2, states that tiny amounts of mass can be converted into vast amounts of energy. This was confirmed by discoveries in the physics of the microworld made in the 1930s.

Logo działu Technologia portalu nukleo.plTechnology

Controlled splitting of atomic nuclei (nuclear fission) takes place in technical devices called nuclear reactors, which are primarily used for electricity production, but not exclusively.

Logo działu Społeczeństwo portalu nukleo.plSociety

The use of nuclear energy has evoked many emotions for years. Nuclear power is one of the most environmentally friendly energy sources. Nevertheless, we are still discussing the or pros and cons of this form of energy.

“Forum Atomowe” Magazine (in Polish)

Who we are

Since 2008, the FORUM ATOMOWE Foundation has been educating Polish society in the field of physics and related sciences, but above all, on the peaceful use of nuclear energy and radioactivity.

The Foundation is a team of young, active and ambitious indyviduals, specialists in their fields, including nuclear physics, radiological protection, energy sector, and nuclear power engineering.

LEARN MORE

The Foundation’s volunteers remain convinced that only through reliable, comprehensive information and education, as well as broad direct participation of society in public debates, can full support for the development of nuclear energy in Poland be obtained.

Prof. Andrzej Strupczewski has died

It is with great regret that we have received the news of the death of dr. eng. Andrzej Strupczewski, Prof. NCBJ, an outstanding nuclear power…

Some facts about nuclear energy

Nuclear energy is a source of electricity in over 30 countries worldwide, powers submarines and even powers Mars rovers

Nuclear power plants produce clean energy, do not emit CO2 and play a key role in the fight against climate change

Nuclear energy and ionizing radiation are present in our daily lives. They have applications in medicine, industry, agriculture and science

Only in the nuclear power sector are the costs of waste management and power plant decommissioning included in the costs of energy generation

To power a 100 W light bulb for 3 years, 24 hours a day, a single 7 g uranium pellet is sufficient

Drinking water is scarce in many parts of the world. Only nuclear reactors can supply the large amounts of cost-competitive energy needed to large-scale seawater desalination

Nuclear power plants are stable sources of electricity – they operate reliably and economically 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for over 90% of the time of the year

There are 440 nuclear reactors operating worldwide, covering 13% of the global electricity demand
