E(x)plory Festival for Young Scientists
On 4-6 April, the FORUM ATOMOWE Foundation prepared an exhibition stand dedicated to nuclear energy for PGE Energia Jądrowa SA during the Education Fair held as part of the finals of the nationwide competition for young scientists E(x)plory at the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia. Polska Grupa Energetyczna was the Merit Partner of the Festival.
The E(x)plory competition is an extraordinary event on a national scale. During the final of the Festival in Gdynia, young scientists aged 14-20 presented their research projects, inventions and experiments in the fields of natural sciences, technology, mathematics, medicine, social sciences, economics and the humanities. The finalists competed for attractive prizes and the opportunity to participate in the most prestigious scientific events for young people around the world.
Foundation volunteers were onduty at the teaching stand: Łukasz Koszuk, Jacek Frost and Jakub Bielecki. Jakub Bielecki also joined in on Saturday. The stand attracted a great deal of interest not only from participants in the competition finals, but also from students from local junior and senior high schools. The PGE stand stood out from the others – we were the only one to present specific knowledge, while the other partners of the Festival focused mainly on promoting their companies and products. Due to limited space, we were only able to present part of our mobile exhibition: a mock-up of a nuclear power plant, explaining the principle of its operation, a mock-up of a fuel cassette, and an original cask used for the transport of radioactive waste. The exhibits were complemented by physical demonstrations related to radioactivity and energy conversion.
Our stand was very popular with the competition finalists and their tutors, as well as with students from local junior and senior high schools and Tricity residents who also attended the festival in large numbers.
Thank you all for your interest in nuclear energy! 🙂
