Atomic workshops for children at the Krokowa Cultural Centre
In recent days, the FORUM ATOMOWE Foundation has visited three Kashubian towns with a unique educational mission – to popularise knowledge about energy and its sources, with a particular focus on nuclear energy. As part of our cooperation with Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (Polish Nuclear Power Plants) and the Krokowa Cultural Centre, we organised workshops for primary school pupils from Żarnowiec, Wierzchucin and Sławoszyn.
Our mobile educational stand, based on elements of the ‘Atomlab’ exhibition, was visited by:
📍 Żarnowiec – 19 October 2024.
📍 Wierzchucino – 26 October 2024.
📍 Sławoszyno – 9 November 2024.
The workshops were led by our experienced educators, Jacek Frost and Łukasz Koszuk, who, as always, combined their passion for learning with an approach full of smiles and commitment.
Each meeting lasted approximately one hour and took place in local community centres and cultural centres, divided into three age groups: grades 1-3, 4-6 and 7-8, so that every participant – regardless of age – could feel like a real explorer of atomic mysteries.
There was no shortage of fascinating exhibits at the stand: a model of a nuclear power plant, a fuel cassette, a model of a radioactive waste cask, demonstrations related to natural sources of ionising radiation, educational puzzles and games, and energy experiments that delighted both the youngest and the slightly older ones.
Children in Years 1 to 3 found out where electricity comes from and what makes light bulbs glow. The older groups – pupils in grades 4-6 and 7-8 – explored the workings of a nuclear power plant and learned about the safe use of radiation in everyday life. The oldest also discussed Poland’s energy future and the role of the atom in the energy transition.
Thanks to our cooperation with the Polish Nuclear Power Plants, we were able to create a space for learning through play and experience. Meetings with us are not only a portion of knowledge, but above all positive energy – in its purest form!
